A teenager, missing for two days before being found unconscious, was the victim of a serious assault, police believe.

Scott Vineer, 17, was found lying in the grounds of a disused furniture showroom close to the Lagan towpath on Friday evening.

He was last seen leaving his college in Lisburn on Thursday afternoon.

The teenager remains in hospital where he is being treated for head injuries. His condition is described as critical. Police have appealed for information.

Detectives are attempting to establish his movements between 15:00 BST on Thursday and 22:00 BST on Friday when he was found in the disused showroom.

Scott is described as 6ft 3ins tall, heavy build, clean shaven with short dark hair.

He was wearing a dark hoodie jacket with a blue t-shirt underneath, dark trousers and a dark beanie hat with an emblem on the front.
