Firefighters are continuing to tackle a major blaze at a scrap metal yard in Armagh.

Eighty firefighters worked through the night at Molloy's Scrap Metals, on the Monaghan Road, to prevent the blaze spreading to homes and businesses.

A Fire Service spokesperson said it was too early to say what caused the fire.

Existing water supplies were not sufficient to bring the fire under control and two specialist high volume pumping units were brought in.

At the height of the blaze, 10 pumping appliances and specialist appliances including two water tankers were used.
