Boy charged with 12 July rioting

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with riotous assembly in connection with trouble in north Belfast on 12 July.

The violence erupted after two parades took place along a stretch of road dividing Catholic and Protestant communities in Ardoyne.

The boy is charged in connection with public disorder in the Twaddell area.

He is due to appear before Belfast Youth Court on 12 September.

On Monday, a court ordered that a 13-year-old boy also accused of taking part in rioting in Ardoyne on 12 July must not go within 100 metres of the scene.

The youth, who could be identified because of his age, was accused of throwing missiles at police.

Twenty-eight people have now been charged with offences in connection with the 12 July rioting in Ardoyne.

A 29th person was arrested but released unconditionally.
