Family 'shattered' by pensioner death in Trillick

The family of a pensioner who died following a quad bike accident in Trillick in County Tyrone are said to be "shattered" by his death.

Eric Irvine, who was in his 70s, died in hospital on Thursday after losing control of the bike.

The retired farmer was travelling to his family's saw mill when the accident happened.

UUP councillor Bert Wilson's son is married to Mr Irvine's daughter. He said the pensioner was well-known.

"He will be sadly missed by his family and the general area," he said.

"Everyday he was in the mill.

"He wouldn't have had an enemy anywhere."

It is understood no-one else was involved in the crash.
