Woman is threatened with machete near Glen Road, west Belfast

A woman has been threatened with a machete during a robbery in west Belfast.

At about 00:45 BST on Sunday, the 22-year-old was walking up steps at Glencolin Way when a man came up behind her and demanded her handbag.

As she turned around she saw the man was holding a machete above his head.

The woman handed over her handbag and the robber ran off down the steps and turned left onto the Glen Road.

He was described as being about 21 years old, about 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build with dirty fair hair and a spiked fringe.

He spoke with a Belfast accent and was wearing a blue hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms.
