A man arrested by police investigating the murder of a County Antrim businessman in 1996 has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Simon Tang, 28, who was married with two sons, was beaten and robbed as he left his takeaway business in Carrickfergus.

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Carrickfergus on Wednesday morning.

He is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 16 May.

Two women have already been charged with perverting the course of justice during the investigation, but no-one has been charged with Mr Tang's murder.

The case featured on the BBC's Crimewatch programme in March.

It is thought that two youths attacked the Oxford University graduate, before stealing his watch and less than £400 in cash.

Mr Tang was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.
