Bomb is found during Londonderry security alert
A bomb has been discovered during a security alert in Londonderry.
A number of homes were evacuated just after midnight on Sunday as army bomb experts examined a suspicious package at Drumleck Drive in the Shantallow area.
The PSNI said the device had now been made safe and has been removed for further examination.
Meanwhile, a security alert in north Belfast is continuing. It began when the Ligoneil Road was closed on Sunday.
It opened again to traffic later that evening.
Speaking about the Derry bomb, Foyle MP Mark Durkan said: "Those responsible for leaving this viable device were out to cause damage and if they couldn't cause damage they certainly wanted to cause disruption to the many people who live nearby.
"It was carried out with malice.
"Once again those behind this attack are just damaging the people of Derry - they are advancing no cause or argument by this and are just bringing distress and disruption to the people of this city.
