Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Hillsborough man in 2005.

Ronald Todd was last seen leaving a pub on Maghaberry Road outside Lisburn at about 20:00 GMT on 21 December 2005.

Police said Mr Todd, 30, was beaten and tied up before being thrown in a river. His body was recovered from the River Lagan in Belfast on 14 February 2006.

The men, aged 32 and 44, were arrested on Tuesday morning. Police have renewed their appeal for information.

Tuesday is the sixth anniversary of the discovery of Mr Todd's body close to Governor's Bridge.

Mr Todd's red Land Rover Freelander vehicle was found burning at Green Road outside Lisburn on the day after his disappearance.

A number of arrests have been made during the investigation, but no-one has been charged over the murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Karen Baxter, who is leading the investigation, said: "Ronald Todd suffered a brutal death, having been beaten and bound before being dumped into the river.

"No-one deserves to die in such a way.

"Those responsible are still at large and it is essential that anyone with information about the murder gives that information to police.

"Detectives are continuing to follow a number of lines of enquiry, but the investigation would be assisted if people with knowledge about what happened to Mr Todd six years ago came forward today."

Police have asked anyone with information on the murder to contact them at 02890 700303. Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.

At the time of his disappearance, Mr Todd, who was a car dealer, lived with his partner and eight-month-old son.
