Family of five escape injury in Coalisland shooting

A family of five have escaped injury after shots were fired at the bedroom window of a house in County Tyrone.

Two men, two women and a child were in the house on the Glen Road in Coalisland when two shots were fired at 07:35 GMT on Saturday.

Police said two men, believed to be involved, later attempted to hijack a car before making off on foot.

Shortly afterwards, a 35-year-old man suffered head injuries after being assaulted by three men.

This also happened on the Glen Road.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
