Ninth dissident republican suspect arrested by Garda

Garda van Nine suspected dissident republicans have been arrested by Irish police

A ninth man has been arrested in the Republic of Ireland by police investigated dissident republican activity.

On Thursday eight arrests were made after 15 searches in counties Wexford, Waterford, Clare and Longford. Friday's arrest was in Longford.

A revolver and a large amount of ammunition were discovered in one of the searches in County Wexford.

Suspected explosive component parts and equipment were seized elsewhere.

Three of the men arrested on Thursday are in their 20s, two in their 30s, one in his 40s, one in his 50s and one in his mid-60s.
