Jackie Fullerton meets the Queen Jackie Fullerton said meeting the Queen was an 'awesome experience'

BBC Northern Ireland sports broadcaster Jackie Fullerton has received an MBE for services to journalism.

The Ballymena-born presenter, whose career spans 37 years, was also honoured for services to the community.

"It was an awesome experience I have to say. I was so pleased it was the Queen herself," he said.

"After nearly 40 years in this business it's lovely to be recognised. It's a very proud day for my wife Linda and my family."

He added: "I'm also pleased for Ballymena that someone from Harryville has got an MBE."

Jackie began his broadcasting career with UTV in 1973, before moving to the BBC in 1992.

He is also a former Irish League footballer.

His autobiography "Jackie: I Did it My Way" was published in 2006.
