Man arrested over Omagh stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an attack on a woman near Omagh on Sunday.

A woman in her 20s is critically ill after she was stabbed in the head as she answered her front door at Cappagh Villas at about 0515 BST.

After the attack a man was found nearby with injuries to his head, face and body.

The arrested man was released from Altnagelvin Hospital into police custody on Monday afternoon.

It is believed the injured woman was holding a house-warming party, having just moved into the area last week.

She is currenlty being treated in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
