£1m to repair Portglenone tyre depot fire damage

A fire at a tyre recycling depot near Portglenone in County Antrim is being treated as suspicious.

A building and recycling equipment worth about £1m were completely destroyed in the blaze which was reported at about 2340 BST on Friday.

At one point, 30 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze on the Garvaghy Road.

Firefighters remain at the scene to deal with what police have called "sporadic flare-ups".

Fire Service assistant Commander Colin Dixon said it would take some time to put the blaze completely out.

"I can forsee the incident going on for the rest of today and possibly into tomorrow," he said.
