A man has been banned from driving after a safety camera filmed a child standing up in the front of his car as he drove along a North Yorkshire road.

John Naisbitt, 66, of Devon Street, Hetton-le-Hole, pleaded guilty to speeding and carrying a passenger in a manner likely to cause danger.

He was caught travelling at 70mph in a 60mph zone on the A59 on Menwith Hill.

He was fined £115 and banned from driving for six months by Northallerton Magistrates' Court.

Naisbitt was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a victim surcharge of £20.
