Two men arrested over Harrogate arson attack

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a flat in Harrogate.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said its firefighters were called to a property in Scargill Road at about 02:50 BST on Sunday.

A 19-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Det Sgt Alan Browne said: "Thankfully, neither of the occupants of the flat were seriously injured."

"However, the consequences could have been far worse," he added.

The arrested men, aged 33 and 26, have been released on bail.
