York bridge-rape accused man appears in court

A man accused of raping a teenage girl has appeared in court in York.

Tomasz Szymon Bekierz, 32, of Lindsey Avenue in York, is charged with attacking the 17-year-old at 01:30 BST on Sunday.

North Yorkshire Police said the victim reported being attacked on Dame Judi Dench Walk near Lendal Bridge.

Mr Bekierz was remanded in custody and is due to appear at York Crown Court on 1 September.
