A man found stabbed to death in a car in North Yorkshire has been named by police.

Mark Berney, 44, from Knaresborough, was found at Whipley Bank in Ripley, near Harrogate, at 21:30 BST on Sunday.

A 40-year-old man from Harrogate arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody for questioning, North Yorkshire Police said.

Det Supt Dai Malyn said he was not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

The B6165 at Whitpley Bank was cordoned off for 24 hours while forensic searches were carried out.

The road re-opened on Monday evening.
