Whitby girl's foot impaled on garden fork

An eight-year-old girl had to be taken to hospital when her foot was impaled on a garden fork in North Yorkshire.

It happened in the East Way area of Whitby at about 13:45 BST on Saturday, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

The implement was removed from the girl's foot by fire service crew members.

Paramedics gave the girl first aid before she was taken to hospital for further treatment.
