Fire at York Racecourse The blaze erupted in part of a workshop complex used by groundstaff

A fire has ripped through a building at York Racecourse.

The blaze broke out at about 09:40 BST in a storage building which is part of a workshop complex used by groundstaff.

A fire service spokeswoman said there were no reports of people being inside the building and no-one has been reported as injured.

In a statement, racecourse chiefs said the Dante Festival, which begins on 14 May, would not be affected and will go ahead as planned.

The fire did not reach any spectator areas.
