Four men have been jailed for their part in the killing of a man who was stabbed during a robbery in Scarborough.

Jonathan Binns, 41, was at a friend's flat when the gang forced their way in.

Kevin Pickering, 29, was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 23 years, after he was convicted of murder.

Nicholas Polihronos, and Jim Cousins, both 30, were jailed for 12 years each for manslaughter. David White, 34, was given 13 years for manslaughter.

North Yorkshire Police said Mr Binns was stabbed twice whilst he was at his friend's flat in Eastborough on 7 August.

All four men were convicted following a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

Pickering, of Royal Crescent, Scarborough, was also given a ten year jail term to run concurrently for robbery as was Polihronos, of Stoney Haggs Rise, Scarborough and Cousins, of Woodland Street, Manchester.

White, of Queen's Terrace, Scarborough was also given ten years for robbery and a four-month sentence for drug offences, to run concurrently.

Speaking after the sentencing, Mr Binns's sister, Julie Anderson, said: "We will never come to terms with what has happened.

"Jonny came from a large and loving family and we will carry the burden of Jonny's loss forever."
