Man dies after crash with lorry near Selby Fork Hotel

A 19-year-old man from Leeds has died following a collision with an HGV in North Yorkshire.

The collision happened on Saturday at 14:45 GMT on the A162 between Fairburn and the junction with the A63 near the Selby Fork Hotel.

North Yorkshire Police said a white Bulgarian-registered HGV driven by a 56-year-old man, and a black Renault Clio collided.

Police said the driver of the Renault died from his injuries.

The A126 was closed for over eight hours.

The driver of the HGV was taken to Pinderfields hospital with minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and said the driver of a pale or white car in the area at the time of the collision may be a vital witness.
