Delivery man helps man found collapsed at North Yorkshire home

A man was found collapsed at his home after a supermarket delivery man raised the alarm with police.

Desmond Drury lay on the floor for 15 hours before a Tesco worker alerted Mr Drury's daughter that her father had not answered his door.

Police then forced their way into the home in East Ayton, near Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

Daughter Karen Page, who lives in Kent, said she was "really grateful" for the worker's prompt actions.

Mrs Page said she had contacted the police after speaking with the delivery driver who had her number as she had placed the order for her father.

She said her father, who is recovering from a brain tumour, was now in hospital.

"He had fallen and had stayed there with the dog keeping him warm. The distress is unimaginable," she added.

A Tesco spokesman said: "We're really proud of the quick actions of our colleague, who alerted Mrs Page to her father's fall."
