Woman pedestrian killed in A64 car crash

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car on the A64 in North Yorkshire.

The woman, who has not been named, was hit by a BMW on the eastbound carriageway of the road at Bilbrough, near Tadcaster at 19:00 GMT on Monday.

North Yorkshire Police said the female driver of the car was unhurt. The pedestrian died in hospital.

Officers said the eastbound carriageway of the A64 was closed for more than six hours following the collision.
