Whitby body found after cliff fall

The body of a woman has been found at the bottom of a North Yorkshire cliff.

The Humber Coastguard said it was called out at 08:45 GMT after a member of the public saw a woman slip close to the edge of East Cliff in Whitby.

Coastguard rescue crews from Whitby, Scarborough and Staithes took part in the search.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the force was "investigating the circumstances of what is at this time the unexplained death of the woman".
