Rape and kidnap in York: Mark Thompson, 36, charged

A 36-year-old man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman has been remanded in custody by a court in York.

Mark Thompson of Hospital Fields, appeared at York Magistrates' Court charged with three counts of rape, one of kidnap, and one of attempted rape.

The incidents happened in the city early on Tuesday morning and Mr Thompson was arrested later the same day, North Yorkshire Police said.

He was remanded to appear at York Crown Court on 15 November.
