Jack-knifed lorry forces A1(M) closure at Allerton Park

A lorry crash has blocked both carriageways of the A1(M) in North Yorkshire forcing the road to be shut.

Emergency crews were called at 20:10 BST when the lorry jack-knifed at junction 47, at Allerton Park. The driver's injuries are not known.

The Highways Agency said drivers were being diverted around the junction, at the A168, and back on to the A1(M).

A car travelling behind the HGV has also crashed. The occupants are not thought to be injured.
