Former Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington has been appointed the new boss at York City.

His appointment comes less than two days after Gary Mills was sacked following the Minstermen's 2-0 home defeat by Bradford on Saturday.

The club highlighted the 51-year-old's "strong coaching ability and extensive knowledge of players" in a statement.

He started his managerial career at Blackpool in 1997 before leading Norwich to the Premier League in 2004.
