Pickering components firm to create new jobs

Rosti McKechnie factory in Pickering Jobs could be created at the Pickering factory

About 200 jobs could be created by a car components manufacturer after it signed a deal with Jaguar Land Rover.

Rosti McKechnie currently employs more than 400 people at its factory in Pickering producing plastic components.

The company said it would mean investment in new machinery and building a new storage facility at its Westgate Carr Road site.

The deal involves developing key components for several new vehicle models up to 2017, the company said.

John Woodhead, plant director at Pickering, said: "The investment planned can only be positive for the loyal workforce we have whilst creating further opportunities in the area.

"The local community has been very supportive of our business over the years and that support will again be vital as we embark on this latest development".

The firm, which also has plants in East Yorkshire and Scotland, was acquired by Swedish company Rosti last year.
