Catterick Garrison crossing crash: Mother and girl hurt
The woman and girl were crossing the road when they were hit by a car
A woman has been arrested after a mother and her six-year-old daughter were knocked down by a car on a pelican crossing in North Yorkshire.
Police said the incident happened on Catterick Road in Catterick Garrison on Saturday evening.
The woman suffered serious head injuries and is said to be "poorly but stable" in hospital, while the girl is said to be stable with facial injuries.
The driver of the car, a woman in her 60s, was arrested and bailed.
The 40-year-old mother and her daughter were being treated at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, police said.
They had been crossing the road with a group of other people when the collision happened at about 18:00 GMT.
Witnesses have been urged to contact police.
