River body is missing York woman Lisette Dugmore
A body found in the River Ouse in York is that of a woman who has been missing for nearly five years, police have confirmed.
Lisette Dugmore has not been seen by her family since she went missing from her York home, aged 36, in July 2008.
Her body was found in the river at Acaster Malbis on 13 January. Police said the death was not suspicious.
At the time of her disappearance, Ms Dugmore was thought to have gone into the river and searches took place.
Family 'heartbroken'Ms Dugmore's body was found by walkers, North Yorkshire Police said.
Det Insp Adrian Gathercole, who has led the investigation throughout, said: "This is very sad news which, understandably, has left Lisette's family deeply upset.
"This is not the outcome anybody wanted, but we hope that Lisette's loved ones will take some comfort from being able to lay her to rest and remember happier times."
Ms Dugmore's sister, Dion Smith, said: "Even now, it is very difficult to believe that we won't be able to see or speak to Lisette again. We never gave up hope that she would be found safe and well.
"We are utterly heartbroken."
