York Acomb Road attack: Man critically ill, two arrests

A man and a teenage boy have been arrested in connection with an assault in York which has left a 50-year-old man critically ill.

Police said the man was attacked on Acomb Road near the corner with Fairfax Court at about 19:40 GMT on Monday.

He is being treated at Leeds General Infirmary.

A 19-year-old man and 16-year-old boy have been arrested. Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Det Insp Ian Dyer, of York CID, said: "This is a very serious incident which has left a man critically ill in hospital.

"We need to piece together what happened on Monday evening, including what the individuals involved were doing in the build up to the incident.

"Even the smallest item of information could be crucial."
