Douglas Robertson death crash in Stokesley: Fourth arrest

Detectives investigating a road accident which left a pedestrian dead have made a further arrest.

Douglas Robertson, 27, died after being hit by a Range Rover as he walked along North Road, Stokesley, on Saturday.

North Yorkshire Police said a 23-year-old man from County Durham was arrested on Monday evening.

A 15-year-old boy charged with causing death by dangerous driving has been remanded in custody by Northallerton Magistrates' Court.

IPCC inquiry

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will next appear at the court on 6 March.

Delton O'Neill, 18, of Sowerby Crescent, Stokesley, also appeared at the court charged with aggravated vehicle taking and was given conditional bail until 6 March.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man from Brompton on Swale, Richmondshire, has been charged with obstructing the police investigation and is due to appear at the same court on 8 February.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

North Yorkshire Police said it was standard procedure as police in a patrol car had seen the Range Rover before the collision.
