Sheep butchered at Masham by side of river

Sheep have been killed and butchered and their remains left at the side of a river in North Yorkshire.

Police said eight Suffolk-cross lambs had been killed at Masham and their identity tags removed.

Officers investigating wildlife crime said stock was vulnerable at this time of the year.

The butchered animals were found after one carcass was spotted in the River Ure off Thorpe Road. Farmers were urged to be vigilant by police.
