Scarborough rooftop stand-off leads to affray charge

A man has been charged with affray after an eight-hour stand-off with police on a rooftop in Scarborough.

Police said a man used scaffolding to climb to the roof of a house on Trafalgar Street after officers tried to arrest him on Sunday afternoon.

He is alleged to have thrown roof tiles during the incident, which ended when he climbed down early on Monday.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with affray and will appear at Scarborough Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
