Cat dies after being shot 10 times in Topcliffe

A cat has been shot dead in what police have described as a "truly sickening" act in North Yorkshire.

The animal was hit with pellets from a BB gun at least 10 times in Topcliffe, near Thirsk, on Thursday.

North Yorkshire Police said it followed a shooting of another cat last month. That pet survived following veterinary treatment.

PC Duncan Pears said: "These acts of barbarity are truly sickening." Anyone with information should contact police.
