Leeds motorcyclist caught doing 103mph wheelie on road

Police said Wisniewski should be "thankful" that he was still alive to face a ban and a community order

A motorcyclist from Leeds sentenced for performing a wheelie at 103mph "showed complete disregard for his safety and that of other people", police said.

Lukasz Wisniewski, 26, of Firth Avenue, was banned from driving for 12 months after riding his bike on its back wheel along the A63, near Selby, on 20 June.

He was sentenced at Selby Magistrates' Court on Thursday after he admitted dangerous driving.

Police said Wisniewski "should be thankful" that he was still alive.

The 26-year-old was also ordered to take an extended driving test and carry out 200 hours of unpaid community work.

Wisniewski was caught on camera riding at 93mph when he began the highly dangerous manoeuvre, but had accelerated to 103mph before he stopped, North Yorkshire Police said.

Insp Dave Brown said: "Wisniewski should be thankful that he is still here to face a ban and a community order.

"His riding showed complete disregard for his safety and that of other people.

"The consequences of such irresponsible riding could have seen him facing far more serious offences."
