Danielle Brown gets golden postbox for Paralympic archery win

Danielle Brown won the gold medal with the last arrow of the contest

A postbox in Skipton, North Yorkshire, has been painted gold in honour of Paralympic archery champion Danielle Brown.

Brown, 24, from Lothersdale, North Yorkshire successfully defended the archery title she won in Beijing in 2008.

She beat fellow Britain Mel Clarke 6-4 to win the gold medal in the women's compound open final.

The match was decided with the last arrow of the contest.

Brown has a neurological problem called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, which gives her chronic pain in her feet.

She described the support from the crowd as incredible and said that it was an amazing feeling to win the gold. "I was under so much pressure this time to do well," she said.

"I am just so chuffed I did it. I really do think that Paralympic sport is coming into its own now and that people are becoming more aware of it."

As well as the postbox Royal Mail has released a commemorative stamp.
