Malton jockey fire deaths: Flat owner appears in court

The owner of a block of flats in North Yorkshire where two jockeys died has appeared in court charged with 17 breaches of safety regulations.

Alan Foster, 65, of Commercial Street in Norton, was bailed and is due to appear at York Crown Court in October.

Jamie Kyne, 18, from County Galway in the Irish Republic, and Jan Wilson, 19, from Forfar in Angus, Scotland, died in the fire near Malton in September 2009.

Last year caretaker Peter Brown was convicted of manslaughter.
