Scarborough plans help to tackle homeless

Homeless people in Scarborough are to be offered intensive help to get them off the streets.

Scarborough Borough Council said it had identified 150 people which it said were trapped in a cycle of addiction, crime and homelessness.

The pilot scheme will offer 24 people assistance with living, employment and addiction problems for up to two years.

The council said £200,000 had already been identified but admitted it expected costs to rise.
