York Racecourse is to be prosecuted after a teenage cyclist died in an accident involving a lorry.

Ruby Milnes, 17, died after her bicycle was in collision with a lorry in a car park behind the racecourse in May 2008.

The Health and Safety Executive said the racecourse had been charged with two safey breaches. The case will be heard by York magistrates in February.

The racecourse said it had "fully co-operated" with investigations into the "sad events".

Ms Milnes was the eldest of five brothers and sisters.
