Devizes street violence: Man charged after officers injured

A 22-year-old man from Devizes has been charged after two police officers were injured in a disturbance in the town.

George Maslen of Nursteed Close is due before Swindon Magistrates charged with actual bodily harm, common assault and the possession of a Class B drug.

A second man, aged 24, and arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, has been bailed.

Both officers were taken to hospital for treatment, but were later released and are recovering at home.

They had been called to the Market Place outside the Corn Exchange where there was a disturbance in the early hours of Sunday.
