Swindon Wildcats concern over ice hockey scam

An "imposter" pretending to be a Swindon ice hockey coach has contacted players worldwide offering them fake contracts in return for money.

The club raised concern after players were sent emails which claimed to be from Swindon Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge, stating they could sign up.

A bank account had also been set up as part of the scam, saying payment was required to process work permits.

The club said it was "fraudulent" and had reported it to Action Fraud.

A Swindon Wildcats spokesman said some conversations had gone as far as discussing contract pay, terms and conditions.

The club is asking anyone who has been contacted using the email address "office.swindonwildcatsihc@gmail.com" to contact either their office in Swindon or Ice Hockey UK.
