Two men arrested in Swindon human trafficking raids

Two men have been arrested in Wiltshire on suspicion of human trafficking.

The men, from Lithuania, were arrested following three raids at separate locations in Swindon on Thursday.

Eight Lithuanian men and women, who Wiltshire Police said were "identified as potentially being exploited", are now being cared for by police.

Det Sgt Rob Findlay said: "The victims will now be given the full support from Wiltshire Police and our partnership agencies."

He said information from the community had proved "crucial" in their investigations and urged anyone with information to report it to police.

"Human trafficking and sexual exploitation are abhorrent crimes which see people being used as commodities," he said.

"These raids should act as a stark warning to anyone involved in the illegal trade of human trafficking that the net is closing."
