Production is to be "significantly increased" at BMW's Swindon plant, the company has announced.

The firm said the site would be manufacturing body panels for the new Mini Hatch to be built at its plants in Oxford, and Nedcar in Holland.

A BMW spokesman said it was "good news" for Swindon, but would not comment on any potential new recruitment.

BMW has invested £760m in the Mini, and about 1,000 UK agency workers were given permanent roles in 2013.
