Salisbury hospital scanner appeal reaches target a year early

An appeal for a new CT Scanner at Salisbury District Hospital has reached its target a year ahead of schedule.

The Stars Appeal charity launched the £650,000 fund-raising campaign in May in the hope it would be reached by Christmas 2014.

But there have already been enough donations, and the new scanner will go into operation in the spring.

Fundraiser Dave Cates said the success is due to how well staff are thought of by former patients.

He said they have been "brilliant" at responding to the campaign and "want to give something back".
