4 Rifles march through Salisbury city centre

Hundreds of Wiltshire-based soldiers have paraded through Salisbury's city centre to mark their return from Afghanistan.

The Bulford-based 4th Battalion The Rifles have just returned from a six month tour.

The rifles, who have the freedom of the city, set off and returned to Cathedral Close taking in two laps of the centre.

At a ceremony at Bulford Barracks troops received service medals from the Duchess of Cornwall.

During their tour the battalion took the role of brigade advisory group - working with Afghan security services providing advice and support on operational matters - during the transition period to Afghan control.
