PCC's £1m fund aims to 'improve community safety'

Wiltshire's police and crime commissioner has set up a £1m innovation fund to support new ideas to improve community safety.

Conservative Angus Macpherson said he was particularly interested in projects that would break cycles of crime and anti-social behaviour.

Mr Macpherson said he would consult with an advisory panel before deciding which applications to fund.

The money will be funded from the office of the PCC reserves.

The cash will be awarded in three stages with £400,000 to be allocated by 31 July, £300,000 by 30 November and £300,000 by 31 March 2014.

Any funds not awarded in one tranche will be rolled over to the next funding tranche.
