Amesbury murder probe under way after woman's death

Maple Way, Amesbury The 45-year-old woman was found seriously injured at a house in Maple Way in Amesbury

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman found seriously injured at a house in Wiltshire died.

Police were called to Maple Way, Amesbury, on Monday just before 22:15 BST. The 45-year-old woman was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital where she died.

A 49-year-old local man remains in police custody.

The woman has not been formally identified but her next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later.

Wiltshire Police ask for anyone with information to contact them.
