Gritting crews are continuing to treat roads in Wiltshire after several centimetres of snow fell in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police warned motorists to take extra care on the roads because of widespread ice and slush.

Wiltshire Council said more than 3,000 tonnes of salt had been spread over the past few days and its highways teams were monitoring the situation.

Seven schools in the county closed on Wednesday because of the weather.
