Motorist killed in lamp-post crash in Swindon

A 53-year-old man was killed when his car crashed into a lamp-post in Swindon.

Wiltshire Police said the accident happened in Kingsdown Road at about 14:30 GMT on Thursday.

Police said the driver, who is named as Martin Rose, from Highworth, died at the scene.

Traffic was diverted as police closed Kingsdown Road for about five hours while officers conducted an investigation.
